The GETSâ€™ State and Local Tax (SALT) practice is dedicated to helping its clients assess their state and local tax burden by recommending solutions that support their overall business objectives and provide support so that their filling positions are consistent with good business practices and with the states' applicable tax laws and rules. Our practice is structured as a true network of well respected state and local tax professionals, including many former key state officials.
GETS property tax is dedicated to providing an environment of an in-house tax department.
Our emphasis is on operational excellence in providing compliance and reporting, asset valuation, assessment review, appeals, audit support, and property tax planning.
GETS property tax has extensive experience in multiple industries, including oil & gas, power, renewables, aviation, transportation, and investment real estate.
Whether a company is seeking an entire outsource strategy, has complex valuation and asset utilization issues, or is looking to maximize property tax incentives, GETS property tax has the experience to meet an organization's property tax needs.
Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 5
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or business related field
Certification(s) Required: CPA,
Member of the Bar, or Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (CMI)
Demonstrates extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of success in property tax, preferably in the oil & gas industry, including the following areas:
Manage complex property tax matters coordinating appraisal, legal, government affairs and community relations;
Research and evaluate state statutes, abatements, regulations, case law and local practice;
Conduct real and personal property tax asset and assessment reviews
Research and demonstrate an aptitude for analyzing market information
Develop real estate and personal property valuation opinions consistent with state statutes and USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) ensuring equitable tax assessments; and,
Present valuation positions and negotiate effectively with assessors, taxing jurisdiction leaders and economic development groups.
Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:
Utilizing and applying considerable technical skills including MS Excel into projects;
Identifying and addressing client needs: actively participating in client discussions and meetings; communicating a broad range of Firm services; managing engagements including preparing concise, accurate documents and balancing project economics management with the occurrence of unanticipated issues; and,
Creating a positive environment by monitoring workloads of the team while meeting client expectations and respecting the work-life quality of team members; providing candid, meaningful feedback in a timely manner; and keeping leadership informed of progress and issues
