Job Description

The Office of the Chief Data Officer is charged with being the voice of data and generally representing data as a strategic business asset. The primary role of this organization is to champion the use of data and information across the firm, and drive changes and improvements in data related operations. This office will help to enable the business, as well as provide insights related to attendant risks.

Significant effort will be dedicated to determining PwC data related needs, and developing proposed solutions. The Chief Data Officer team identifies where, when, how, and why the business uses data, and transforms it into information that serves clients.

The Data Factory is the go-to place for identifying, provisioning, transforming, and delivering data and analytic tools to data scientists and analysts in client service, market and sector programs, and analytic applications development groups. The Data Factory provides specialized expertise in staging data for analytic use and matching the right toolsets to analytic problems. The team provides a scalable process for ensuring data quality and enabling advanced analytics that drive added value to our clients.

The Data Operations Management team works with business leaders to manage their data and analytics needs. The team works with the business to shape analytics solutions from requirements definition through project execution.

The operations team is responsible for lifecycle asset management of the firm's portfolio of third party data, including identifying business needs, provisioning, and retiring of assets.

Position/Program Requirements

Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 6

Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or GED

Degree Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Management, Data Science, Business Intelligence, or Data Visualization.

Certification(s) Preferred: Computer Science/Information Management, Data Science, Business Intelligence, or Data Visualization.

Knowledge Preferred:

Demonstrates intimate knowledge and/or a proven record of success in data project management and customer relationship management, preferably for a global network of professional services firms, including the following areas:

  • Understanding of how information flows from business units as well as how information is utilized for reporting and various business related activities;

  • Developing and implementing tactical plans to support strategic objectives;

  • Understanding of the various functional networks and an ability to build, expand and/or leverage existing relationships; and,

  • Working knowledge of data lifecycle management.

Skills Preferred:

Demonstrates intimate abilities and/or a proven record of success in data project management and customer relationship management, preferably for a global network of professional services firms, in the following areas:

  • Conducting lifecycle planning and coordination for data asset needs with business owners and key analytics stakeholders;

  • Collaborating with data owners to develop analytic solutions for business problems and implement key initiatives;

  • Working with customers to define annual plans, requirements, and project plans for emergent projects;

  • Managing the Product Lifecycle for all analytic and data science deliverables in assigned portfolio;

  • Serving as a liaison between business initiative owners and technical projects teams;

  • Driving communication to stakeholders and various network firms and global operation teams;

  • Overseeing the interaction of data requests from data owners to facilitate data consumption;

  • Providing project management for large scale initiatives including workshops, business initiatives and data quality reviews;

  • Supporting business management activities, including management, leadership reporting;

  • Driving programs and content to support local and global sharing across the network;

  • Creating and conveying a value proposition including the ability to identify the issue, share insight, validate, co-develop a solution, and move to next steps;

  • Demonstrating judgment to see long term impact of issues and ideas as they relate to strategic initiatives and objectives;

  • Writing, communicating, facilitating and presenting clearly to and/or for all levels, including problem/conflict resolution and the ability to coach and teach others;

  • Managing budget and ability to collect/analyze data to communicate ROI/impact; and,

  • Navigating and working effectively in a heavily matrixed organization.
