Job Description

PwC's US Finance organization is a strategic business advisor responsible for managing the firm's financial risk, including: financial planning and reporting, data analysis, and assisting leadership with strategic and tactical matters. Services include: budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, data and analytics, shared services and financing. Finance works daily with US Leadership, engagement partners and managers on managing the profitability of engagements. Finance has assisted other PwC Network firms regionalize their financial operations. Finance also analyzes potential acquisitions, assisting with the integration (including system needs) and educating partners/managers on how to navigate our various financial systems. The Compliance and Controls (C and C) team includes Financial Controls and Compliance (ICFR, ITGC, and GFS Data Security) and Compliance and Quality (AP, Contract, and T and E Compliance and Finance Policies). C and C supports US Finance and Firm Leadership in identifying and managing risks through maintaining an effective internal control structure (financial and operational) and reaching an optimal level of compliance to protect the firm's assets and ensure accurate financial information. The Compliance and Quality (C and Q) team drives the compliance strategy for Accounts Payable, Contracts and Staff Reimbursements and manages escalations of non-compliance to reduce risks to the firm and help reach an optimal level of compliance.

Position/Program Requirements

Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 2 Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree or more than two years experience in a Finance or Quality/Compliance environment Knowledge Preferred: Demonstrates thorough knowledge of and/or proven record of success in finance operations, preferably for a global network of professional services firms, including in the following areas:

  • Understanding of firm’s organization structure and ability to analyze results, identify possible issues, make recommendations, and support conclusions;

  • Applying use of firm-sponsored suite of work solutions (e.g., Google, Lotus Notes, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); and,

  • Understanding firm systems and their dependencies on one another (e.g., HR Data/Payroll/General Ledger), and technical tools (e.g., GFS, myKcurve, Business Warehouse, Oracle/SQL, relevant databases, etc.). Skills Preferred: Demonstrates thorough level of ability and/or proven record of success in finance operations, preferably for a global network of professional services firms, including in the following areas:

  • Performing risk-based reviews on trends, regulatory, statistical, separations and detailed audits in the Time & Expense, Procure to Pay (Accounts Payable and Contracts), Account Receivables and payroll areas to monitor compliance with firm and regulatory guidelines;

  • Working with minimal supervision to conduct independent investigations and forensic reviews on firm data to mitigate risk and anticipate business needs and policy enhancements;

  • Collaborating with departments to resolve data discrepancies and issues, review process efficiencies and make recommendations for process improvements;

  • Working independently on projects and providing support to Compliance Manager with project and operational planning, administration and implementation, often under tight timeframes to meet critical deadlines;

  • Building and maintaining relationships with business partners, finance leaders and stakeholders; sharing information and knowledge with team members (e.g. presentations, external seminars, technology tips, technical training, etc.) and keeping team and leadership informed on progress and issues affecting the department;

  • Reviewing work product quality within the team, participating in the interview, hiring and professional development process;

  • Respecting and maintaining confidentiality of client, staff, and firm information; and,

  • Writing, communicating, facilitating and presenting cogently; to and/or for all levels of internal staff and management.
