A career in our Analytics Data Assurance practice, within Risk Assurance Compliance and Analytics services, will provide you with the opportunity to assist clients in developing analytics and technology solutions that help them detect, monitor, and predict risk. As a part of the team, you’ll help us develop cost effective technology solutions that focus on delivering relevant, actionable intelligence that executives need to understand operations and manage critical risks.
As an Intern/Trainee, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution.

You’ll play an integral role supporting staff as needed for an outstanding variety of work and making contributions to the team on a daily basis.
Our Intern’s role in PwC‘s Risk Assurance services provided to clients is to:
Support select phases of a financial statement audit;
Support select projects;
Demonstrating creative thinking and individual initiative while working as a team member, building solid relationships with team members;
Proactively seek guidance, clarification and feedback; and,
Demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks while exercising professional skepticism.

Eligible students should be in the 3rd year of a 4 year degree program or in the 4th year of a 5 year program. Client service interns typically join during the winter/spring or summer prior to their intended graduation year.

Demonstrates basic knowledge and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:
Working as a team member by understanding personal/team roles;
Contributing to a positive working environment by building relationships with a team as well as clients and proactively seeking guidance and feedback;
Leveraging the ability to learn about information management, data quality, data governance and project management, technical accounting, how to analyze data using accounting principles and accounting applications, and new technology such as SQL programming, data manipulation and analysis technologies (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, ACL, Access/Excel, Visual Basic, R, Python) and Visualization tools (e.g. Spotfire, Qlikview, and Tableau);
Leveraging the ability to learn how to design, evaluate and implement data models using data mining techniques, understand business intelligence and relational database concepts, understand big data objectives, concepts and technologies such as Hadoop;
Understanding the core client business and IT processes including the review of process and technical documentation and hands-on system investigation and testing;
Assisting in the creation of various client deliverables including control documentation and test scripts, status and observation reporting and dashboards; and,
Understanding of end-to-end processes, documenting business requirements, creating design documentation and process flows to assist the team in implementing technology to meet client needs.
Demonstrates a general awareness about global issues (such as economics, technology, culture, business or regulatory environment) to identify and address client needs, including in the following areas:
Utilizing critical thinking that breaks down complex problems, understands root causes, and proposes viable solutions while maintaining quality;
Identifying and incorporating new tools and creative techniques in data analysis using tools such as R, Python, SAS, SPSS, SQL, Stata and building data visualization dashboards (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, Qlikview);
Interest and knowledge of descriptive analytics, predictive analytics, machine learning principles;
Preparing memoranda and/or reports that communicate research and recommendations concisely and effectively with an orientation toward business communication and grammar;
Exhibiting flexibility and desire to travel, as client assignments require;
Demonstrating curiosity to independently learn new processes and technologies, in particular, ERP and GRC solutions and security and controls implementations;
Understanding various facets of business and/or IT processes, concepts of enterprise risk, internal controls and ERPs, corporate compliance and regulatory mandates, technical aspects of information systems, financial reporting concepts, and systems development methodology; and,
Demonstrating critical thinking skills that assist our teams, by understanding technology solutions and end to end processes, which help solve client problems.
