PwC Tax Technology Development - SQL DBA - DevOps Manager in Dallas, Texas

A career in our Innovation Development practice, within Innovation services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients' redesign, redefine, and redeploy their assurance and/or tax departments to be a strategic asset across the enterprise. You'll focus on assisting clients as they incorporate increased automation, machine learning, data & analytics, Open Source technologies into their processes to deliver better quality output and contribute more strategically to organisational decision making.

Our team helps our clients create a guided path to innovation by developing the right methods that generate insight based ideas, and to select, produce and commercialise the most valuable and viable results. You’ll focus on software driven innovation strategy, software technology diligence, operating model design, software product planning and management, and software architecture and cloud strategy.

Responsibilities

As a Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and above

  • Be involved in the financial management of clients

  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients

  • Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen

  • Develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges

  • Assist in the management and delivering of large projects

  • Train, coach, and supervise staff

  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues

  • Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand

Job Requirements and Preferences :

Basic Qualifications :

Minimum Degree Required :

Bachelor Degree

Minimum Years of Experience :

5 year(s) of prior DBA and Database development experience

Preferred Qualifications :

Preferred Fields of Study :

Computer and Information Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems

Certification(s) Preferred :

Microsoft certification (e.g. MCDBA, MCSD) or Oracle certification

Preferred Knowledge/Skills :

Demonstrated proven success in roles and extensive knowledge of the following database development and administration technologies and methodologies to build custom-designed, automated web and mobile technologies related to clients facing business issues involving expatriates and global mobility:

  • Solution Delivery Methodologies including traditional SDLC and Agile; MSSQL 2008/2012; Oracle 10+ -T/SQL, PL/SQL -DDL, DML, DCL, TCL -E/R and Data Modeling;

  • Backup and High-availability;

  • Performance tuning;

  • Data partitioning;

  • Source Control (TFS, Subversion, Git, Mercurial);

  • Testing Methods & Tools for database schemas; and,

  • Relational and non-relational data storage.

Demonstrated proven extensive abilities and success with IT architecture-related technologies and methodologies to build custom-designed, automated web and mobile technologies related to clients facing business issues involving expatriates and global mobility, which include the following areas:

  • Working alone or as part of a team to design and build quality software solutions;

  • Demonstrated understanding of the purpose of the software or functionality being built;

  • Building solutions that meet the requirements and acceptance criteria;

  • Determining the best implementation approach considering factors such as build time, cost, performance, scalability, reliability, security and maintainability;

  • Anticipating potential problems and proactively suggesting solutions;

  • Respectfully challenging solutions and bringing new ideas to the team;

  • Driving change and continuous improvement through the adoption of solid development practices; and,

  • Discussing work with stakeholders inside and outside the development team.

Demonstrated proven extensive success and abilities to drive change and continuous improvement through the adoption of proven development practices, utilizing creative analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail and quality. Demonstrated proven success and extensive ability to take ownership of tasks and complete them with minimal direct supervision. Demonstrated extensive ability to achieve, and a proven record of, success as an individual contributor and team member, identifying and addressing technology opportunities: actively participating in product and technology discussions and meetings; managing multiple projects, including preparing concise, accurate documents; and maintaining flexibility for unanticipated issues or opportunities. Demonstrated repeated success and extensive skills in meeting expectations; respecting the work-life quality of team members; providing candid, meaningful feedback in a timely manner; keeping supervisors and team members informed of progress and issues; answering questions and providing direction to less-experienced staff. Demonstrated proven success and willingness to learn and upgrade continually skills and knowledge as the business environment and technology evolve.

Demonstrates success as tax technical business advisor, including developing new relationships, making introductions to sell new services and doing so with a "One Firm" service mindset. Preferred familiarity with a CRM system.

Demonstrates knowledge of automation & digitization in a professional services environment including but not limited to:- innovating through new and existing technologies, along with experimenting with digitization solutions;

  • working with large, complex data sets to build models and leverage data visualization tools to provide insights to clients;

  • utilizing digitization tools to reduce hours and optimize engagements

Knowledge of alternative fee arrangements, including the use of pricing tools, to provide a point of view on pricing strategies.
