Job Description

PwC's Business Advisory Services group is a distinctive practice that provides audit, technical accounting, tax, regulatory, compliance, valuation services, risk management, financial analysis and cashflow modeling, outsourcing, securities processing, payments, information risk and security, data quality, mergers and acquisitions, and other services. PwC's Financial Instruments, Structured Products and Real Estate Group (Financial Markets) practice, is a global team comprised of financial products experts on virtually all asset classes (including Residential and Commercial Mortgages, Auto Loans and Leases, Credit Cards, Student Loans, Derivatives, Commercial Loans and Bonds, Debt and Equity Securities, etc.).

The team specializes in providing services along the full life cycle of a product, around model governance and validation, accounting advisory, end-to-end transaction support and valuation, business processes and controls, tax and treasury, and capital funding strategies, all as they relate to financial instruments, structured products, and real estate.

The FM practice helps clients achieve success in the capital markets. From navigating complex transactions in new and established products, to treating regulation not simply as a compliance exercise, but as a catalyst for innovation; FM’s deep product knowledge and industry insight helps clients future proof their organizations and to seize the opportunities in the market.

Position/Program Requirements

Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 2

Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business field of study.

Certification(s) Required: CPA or commitment to pass CPA exams before being promote to Senior Associate

Degree Preferred: MBA or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business related field

Knowledge Preferred:

Members of the Financial Instruments, Structured Products, and Real Estate, and FSR practice, help clients achieve success in the capital markets.

They use and develop strong analytic skills through focusing on and navigating through complex transactions in new and established products.

These teams treat new accounting standards and regulations not as compliance, but as opportunities to innovate.

FSR professionals provide transaction, consulting and advisory services to help audit and non-audit clients make informed judgments and interpretations.

They advise on complex and/or new accounting and tax standards, implementation efforts, operations and policies and procedures, treatment of new and recurring transactions, and evaluate valuation estimates for financial and tax reporting.

Selected candidates should have some level of knowledge of financial reporting processes and technical accounting, reporting and operational matters related to financial instruments, structured products and real estate products.

As well, selected candidates should have some level of ability to understand financial services and treasury related industry challenges and insights to help clients navigate change within their organizations and seize opportunities in the market.

Skills Preferred:

Proven record of success in working on teams and focusing on topics relevant to advising multinational, publicly-traded companies and private firms on a broad range of complex transactions.

These areas of focus will broadly involve technical accounting, financial reporting, operational policies, processes and procedures, especially focused on the following areas within a client services environment:

  • Financial instruments, including income recognition and impairment;

  • Real Estate and Leasing;

  • Consolidations;

  • Transfers and sales of financial instruments;

  • Fair value assessments;

  • Foreign currency matters;

  • Financing transactions and convertible securities; and,

  • Derivatives & hedging.

Some level of ability to perform analysis, research, and document complex and emerging accounting, regulatory and financial reporting topics.

This includes the ability to present and speak effectively to these topics, both internally and externally.

Demonstrates some abilities and/or a proven record of success as a team member: understanding personal and team roles; contributing to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members; proactively seeking guidance, clarification and feedback.

Demonstrates some abilities utilizing effective written and verbal business communication skills when interacting with external clients and firm staff and/or management within a professional services business environment.
