PwC State and Local Tax - Quantitative Solutions Manager in McLean, Virginia

A career within State and Local Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients solve their business issues related to business restructuring, adoption of new tax laws, and communicating local tax developments. You’ll help with assessing our client’s state and local tax burden and recommend solutions that support their overall business objectives to ensure that their filling positions are consistent with good business practices and with the states applicable tax laws and rules.

Our team helps our clients transform risk and compliance related to state and local taxes into a business advantage by aligning their state tax plan with the business strategy. You’ll help with issues related to abandoned and unclaimed property, income and franchise tax, payroll and employment tax, credits and incentives, and indirect tax.

Responsibilities

As a Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and above

  • Be involved in the financial management of clients

  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients

  • Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen

  • Develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges

  • Assist in the management and delivering of large projects

  • Train, coach, and supervise staff

  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues

  • Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand

Preferred Knowledge/Skills :

Demonstrates extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of success in State and Federal Income Tax including consolidations, emphasizing the following areas:

  • Delivering technology solutions to clients;

  • Working with clients, practice offices and development teams to prioritize requests and communicate progress to clients;

  • Leading engagement teams, training clients and assisting with on-boarding and integration;

  • Analyzing and processing financial system data using analytic and business intelligence tools;

  • Managing multiple concurrent engagements;

  • Identifying and selling the value proposition of beneficial tax technology projects to prospective clients;

  • Working with multiple stakeholders during all phases of the development and project lifecycle; and,

  • Working in an Agile development environment.

Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:

  • Analytic and business intelligence tools such as Alteryx and Tableau;

  • Database skills including SQL and PL/SQL;

  • Robotic Process Automation;

  • The Microsoft Office Suite; and,

  • Tax Research tools such as BNA or CCH.

Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:

  • Leveraging knowledge of financial systems including sub-ledgers and other systems feeding the general ledger;

  • Utilizing knowledge of XML and electronic filing; and,

  • Demonstrating knowledge of industry tax technology industry leading practices and tools.
