PwC Fraud Strategy Consulting - Director in New York, New York

A career in our Investigative Analytics practice, within Forensics Technology services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients protect their business in today’s evolving landscape by applying advanced and strategic approaches to information management. We focus on assisting organisations manage vast amounts of electronic data and navigate the legal and business processes demanded by critical events which includes litigation, regulatory requests and internal investigations.

Our team helps design and build investigation support systems for our clients that work with, review, and provide insights of the data under investigation without the need for complex data analysis skills and without the risk of damaging the underlying evidence.

Responsibilities

As a Director, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively lead the practise by setting strategy, drive the development of new business in the market, and provide technical advice across disciplines

  • Building strong networks within the firm to spot and capitalise on opportunities to get involved in projects that others are leading across a number of different business units and sectors

  • Identifying and discussing key issues with our clients to identify potential opportunities

  • Responsibility for a majority of day to day client communications

  • Responsibility to shape and deliver various projects that exceed the expectations of our clients and our own assignment quality criteria

  • Manage and deliver large projects by developing the project team, assessing engagement risks throughout, driving conclusions, and reviewing / challenging the output produced by the team

  • Responsibility for management of engagement financials

  • Helping to grow and develop our team through hands on training and coaching

Additional Responsibilities:

A Fraud Analytics Director will join the team with extensive consulting/industry experience to help clients solve complex problems from strategy to execution including assisting with analytics-driven fraud prevention & detection strategies, developing & implementing effective fraud strategies to mitigate losses while establishing a balance between risk & customer experience, & assisting in client financial management & business development to help identify opportunities on new/existing clients.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills :

Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in forensic technology, managing fraud prevention, and detection strategy in a lead role for business consulting projects, preferably for a global network of professional services firms, including the following areas:

  • Managing, directing, setting, designing, and implementing the fraud strategy;

  • Understanding of accounting cycles, financial reporting activities, and data models within ERPs;

  • Understanding industry-specific business processes and accounting practices, such as banking, eCommerce, mobile telecom, technology, or other industries, with significant responsibility for managing aspects of the fraud function;

  • Consulting or managing industry-related data analytics and/or financial management, emphasizing Fraud strategy, technology, analytics, and/ or operations experience; and,

  • Understanding relational and NoSQL Databases, especially one or more of the following environments: Python, Machine Learning, and Data Science, Data Visualization Tools - Tableau, Spotfire, QlikView, etc., R or Base SASData Analytics - Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Informatica, or VBA.

Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in forensic technology, managing fraud prevention, and detection strategy in a lead role for business consulting projects, preferably for a global network of professional services firms, including the following areas:

  • Leading and directing multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, cross-functional, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment;

  • Leading teams with significant responsibility for managing aspects of the fraud function;

  • Developing client-specific fraud prevention and detection strategies in creating, managing, and utilizing high performance relational and NoSQL databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Access, OLAP, machine learning or advanced analytics techniques;

  • Gathering, standardizing, and analyzing voluminous transactional electronic data, such as banking records, general ledgers, sales and inventory data, etc.;

  • Querying and mining large data sets to discover transaction patterns, examining financial data and filtering for targeted information that utilize both traditional and predictive/advanced analytic strategies for real time fraud prevention and detection;

  • Designing and developing user interfaces and database reports;

  • Leading project management activities including: developing budgets, timelines, and work-plans;

  • Leading business development activities and generating business opportunities;

  • Fostering a positive working relationship with clients, including client buyers and senior stakeholders, and working effectively with client management and staff at all levels to gather information and perform services;

  • Managing difficult client situations through communicating with influence and leadership ability;

  • Applying industry-leading practices with identifying and addressing client needs: building, maintaining and utilizing networks of client relationships and community involvement, communicating value propositions, managing resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing and collections and preparing and/or coordinating complex written and verbal materials; and,

  • Building teams including: demonstrated success as a team leader, supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust, seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation and coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.
