PwC P&C Actuarial Services - Experienced Associate in New York, New York
A career in our Actuarial Non Life Services practice, within Actuarial Services, will provide you with the opportunity to contribute general insurance advice and consulting services to clients such as insurers, banks, regulators, and third party administrators. You’ll provide advice covering solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and risk control, financial modelling, underwriting, new legislation, and the efficiency of claims or reporting processes. Simply put, you might help analyse the impact that new regulation will have on an insurance company’s balance sheet or you could be revising businesses’ projections and making sure they have adequate reserves.
Our team advises clients in the general insurance and non insurance industries on regulatory updates and business risks from natural catastrophes to mortgage defaults. We develop comprehensive risk analysis and mathematical models to help organisations enhance their business forecasting capabilities, limit their risks, and use their data informatively to make better strategic business decisions.
As an Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Proactively assist the team in various aspects of the project
Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen
Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues
Ensure you are adhering to compliance matters
Work on developing internal relationships and your PwC brand

Successful completion of at least 3 of the 6 actuarial exams
Required Knowledge and Skills :
Working knowledge of P&C reserving experience within an insurance company or audit or consulting firm. Active pursuit of a CAS designation. Demonstrated project management experience working on a cross-functional team where there is an eagerness and aptitude to understand and solve business insurance-related issues, exhibiting a client service orientation combined with creative problem solving skills; the ability to prepare and present concise, accurate documents and reports with attention to business writing and grammar; the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment; and, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, yet function well with independent responsibilities. Proven ability to summarize and communicate the results of analyses to various levels of management and professionals, both externally and internally, in a clear and concise manner that emphasizes consistent business grammar, tone and style.

Working knowledge and/or direct experience with statistical modeling, related applications, and database applications (including MS Access, et al), especially as it relates to conducting quantitative analyses for business insurance-related matters.
Working experience with P&C-industry reserving software applications. Familiarity with accounting standards (e.g., FASB,IFRS).
