PwC Assurance Innovation & Tech - Manager, Big Data Engineering in Tampa, Florida

A career in our Innovation Development practice, within Innovation services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients' redesign, redefine, and redeploy their assurance and/or tax departments to be a strategic asset across the enterprise. You'll focus on assisting clients as they incorporate increased automation, machine learning, data & analytics, Open Source technologies into their processes to deliver better quality output and contribute more strategically to organisational decision making.

Our team helps our clients create a guided path to innovation by developing the right methods that generate insight based ideas, and to select, produce and commercialise the most valuable and viable results. You’ll focus on software driven innovation strategy, software technology diligence, operating model design, software product planning and management, and software architecture and cloud strategy.

Responsibilities

As a Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and above

  • Be involved in the financial management of clients

  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients

  • Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen

  • Develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges

  • Assist in the management and delivering of large projects

  • Train, coach, and supervise staff

  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues

  • Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand

This role will support the Innovation & Technology organization in Assurance.

Job Requirements and Preferences :

Basic Qualifications :

Minimum Degree Required :

Bachelor Degree

Additional Educational Requirements :

Bachelor's degree Software Engineering, Information Management Systems, Computer Science.

Minimum Years of Experience :

5 year(s) of related experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills :

We are seeking experienced and passionate Java 1.8 / Scala / Spring Boot / Big Data Software Engineering Managers with deep understanding of large scale distributed data processing applications and Java or Scala technologies, specifically demonstrating thorough abilities and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:

  • Refining requirements, self identifying solutions and communicating recommendations to the team;

  • Conducting pattern matching, regex creation and approaches to decompose unstructured text;

  • Designing and developing large scale distributed data processing systems/applications or large scale internet systems utilizing Java, Scala, Python, JavaScript etc.; and,

  • Working with Agile Methodologies and develop code using object oriented design, implementation and maturation to take advantage of the language feature sets, and best utilizes system resources which can become constrained in a big data environment.

Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:

  • Utilizing large scale distributed data processing systems/applications using Java with Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud development (or) Scala;

  • Utilizing web application development with application frameworks such as Spring Boot & Spring Cloud;

  • Utilizing development experience using Big Data technologies like Spark 2, Spark SQL frameworks and building REST services & exposure to Reactive programming;

  • Utilizing Web User Interface (UI) creation with use of recent javascript libraries like AngularJS 1 / 2, ReactJS;

  • Utilizing Data Modelling, Database design, manipulation and query of Relational, Hive, Hadoop and NoSQL datastores;

  • Utilizing architectural patterns of a large, high-scale applications processing Big Data;

  • Utilizing enterprise Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) tools for orchestration of services and workflows;

  • Demonstrating knowledge of full stack development with comfort and familiarity of continuous integration tooling such as Docker, Docker Swarm, Jenkins etc.;

  • Developing and modifying web applications to include HTML, javascript, AngularJS, ReactJS, Redux, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS); and,

  • Demonstrating experience with Kylo, NiFi and Spark.
